The New Jersey Association of Library Assistants would like to thank you for expressing interest in participating in our annual conference. NJALA is the only non-profit organization dedicated to serving NJ library paraprofessionals in the state. We are an organization comprised entirely of volunteers that offers support, primarily in the form of an annual conference. Attended annually by 200 library paraprofessionals and professional librarians, this conference is an excellent opportunity to speak and present to a varied cross-section of NJ library workers.
2020’s conference will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel & Casino, (1900 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401). The theme is “Be the Change,” and focuses on how integral library paraprofessional staff are to the everyday functioning of libraries of all types, particularly those on the proverbial “front lines” of library work—Circulation staff, Pages, Welcome desk staff.
NJALA is looking for speakers who have useful skills to share with conference attendees that may be applied in both work and everyday lives. Past sessions have included tutorials on Canva and Google Suites, training on Readers Advisory and Helping Patrons Publish Online, as well as workshops on mindfulness, decluttering, and interpersonal communication.
