Program Name: What’s It Like Being a Notary in a Library?

Presenter: Nicole C. Pascoe



As Civic Services Manager of the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ), Nicole Pascoe’s role requires careful interpretation of federal, state, and local policies and procedures. She is a graduate of the Somerset County community leadership program, Leadership Somerset (2016), a notary public, and has overseen the structure of SCLSNJ’s notary service for almost four years. Pascoe entered the public library field in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from William Paterson University (NJ) and is pursuing her MLIS at Clarion University (PA).

Program Description: What’s It Like Being a Notary in a Library? We will review the definition and purpose of a notary public, why and how the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey began to offer notary services, and important considerations to be made when preparing to offer notary services at any library. Pascoe will also share insights regarding how to get started, common notary interactions, and resources to support library staff notaries.
